first and foremost, i consider myself a producer. though production has become a catch-all term for many aspects of the creative process, my philosophy on production revolves around these core elements:
- developing a tracklist that tells the story my client wants to tell
- recording the songs at a location that feels right for the project
- recruiting musicians and engineers that can elevate the music
- sticking to a budget and timeframe
- seeing through the entirety of the release and post-production cycles
tracking
as my first love in engineering, i believe tracking is immensely important to the execution of a project. if tracking isn’t successful, the rest of the process will be a struggle as well! i love tracking in:
- my own project studio
- a well-equipped, fancy schmancy studio
- beautiful spaces that are not studios
- brand new studios
- basements
- cabins
- anywhere with power, lamps, and coffee
mixing
mixing is fun and i like doing it! there are so many ways to elevate a mix and make them stand out. i feel comfortable mixing in analog and digital environments.
mastering
mastering is a critical part of the post-production process that ensures your music can sound incredible on all streaming platforms and on any physical media you may make.
